In Tavares, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in Florida, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.

Tavares is in Florida, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Tavares follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I recently received a gift of Lotus seeds. I called the store and the store representative wanted me to have accurate information about the media needed for the Lotus plant seeds. I gave my number to the rep and Chris called me back almost immediately. I had a question about the media to grow the seeds but I was pleasantly surprised about Chris’ knowledge about the seeds, the germination time and what to look for when the seeds would be ready to sprout. Chris let me know I could call him back if I needed more help. I pray that they actually sprout but Chris and his quick thinking staff will definitely be the reason why?

Nice selection. Friendly owner. Bought a lot of growing media there. This is my second time coming in. Will be back for more. They also offered to order stuff for me that I needed if they didn't already carry it.

Been a grower of all things indoors for 30 years. Drove 1.5 hrs to go see Chris at Happy Planet. He had me convinced that he was the only distributor of the best LED light out there and a wholesaler for the company. Get there and he’s not there, just some clueless woman. But I knew what I was there for as I had discussed it with Chris on the phone. I purchased the 650 watt Grower’s Choice flowering light for $750 plus tax. When I opened the box at home there was a good size dent in the middle case of the light where the electronics are held. Judging from the thickness of the metal it had to have taken a good shot to dent it. When I contacted Chris he felt it was no big deal after seeing the pic of the damage which did not do it justice. I felt differently as I had just bought it. Who knows if it’s gonna just wink out in 6 mos not too mention if I want to resell it someday. Then he told me the seller refused to do a RMA because of the high shipping costs and that he couldn’t help me. I will include pics and texts back and forth so you can see this is for real. Long story short, I went to Portugal for a month with my daughter and when I returned I texted him saying I wanted to retur

Great little store! Have bought a flood table, nutrients and a seed starter kit most recently and the staff has always been nice and accommodating. They are also very well informed about their products which is very helpful. Whenever I have some spending money I’ll stop by for a treat to myself.
